About the event
Brandon Omari Lake is an animator and filmmaker raised in a lively Anguillian household in Los Angeles. Inspired by the works of Disney, Rankin-Bass, and various Caribbean folktales, in 2013 he graduated with an MFA in Animation and the Digital Arts from the University of Southern California. His independent films investigate the relationship between race, heritage, and stereotype. Lake was the recipient of the Laika Animation Grant through Project Involve, whose goal is to build a more inclusive and equitable industry by supporting emerging filmmakers from communities underrepresented in film and entertainment. Lake’s professional portfolio includes the ACLU, Robot Chicken, Tumbleleaf, Buddy Thunderstruck, Verizon and two PES-directed Honda Spots (Paper, The Power of Ridgeline). He has also written and illustrated the children’s picture book, Baby Bear and Babooshka. He is currently the Senior Multimedia Producer for the ACLU.
