CALL FOR SWEATY EYEBALLS INTERNS

The 2023 Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival returns with the most cutting-edge animated short films from around the world. The fest will be taking place at multiple venues in Baltimore City and Towson from October 5-8, 2023. Including 4 international shorts competition screenings, a Baltimore showcase screening, a Young Audiences screening, Animator Retrospective by Isaac King (Toronto, Canada), Animation Industry Presentation by Paul Harrod (Portland, OR), and feature film by Albert Birney (Baltimore). Along with the screenings of the festival there will also be a corresponding exhibition of animation process art and expanded animation at the Current Space gallery. Adding to the film screenings and talks there will be free animation workshops run by students and after parties at the Current Space gallery.

 

Sweaty Eyeballs is looking for enthusiastic lovers of animation to join our squad of volunteers and interns. Here is what we are looking for:

 

INTERNS:

  1. Must apply for internship by filling out the following google form: https://forms.gle/QqoW3uWm8Y1xsoNN8 

  2. We will only be accepting interns who are pursuing course credit for their time working for the festival. This is an unpaid internship.

  3. You must be available during this time frame: September 18-October 14. We will work around your schedule, but it is imperative that Interns be available during the festival October 5-8.

  4. Total hours are dependent on your course credit you are seeking, but generally we are looking for interns to fulfill 40 hours of work minimum.

  5. We are looking for one lead intern for each of the main venues of the festival: MICA, Towson University, and the Charles Theatre.

  6. Intern tasks may include the following: running free animation workshops and helping to setup/breakdown workshops, running projection at Towson University, running ticket tables, ushering attendees to seats, creating social media posts/updates, hanging flyers/posters, event setup/breakdown, shooting photos and video of events and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, editing photos and video of events and Q&A sessions, and running the merchandise table.

  7. Intern application form due by September 11. Interns will be notified of acceptance or rejection by September 15.

 

VOLUNTEERS:

  1. Must apply for volunteer position by filling out the following google form:https://forms.gle/xp3VC8UA6hi6hRc36 

  2. We will accept students or non-student volunteers who are interested in helping out with the festival.

  3. All volunteers must dedicate a minimum of 6 hours during the week of the festival October 5-8, 2023.

  4. Volunteer tasks may include the following: ticket check-in, ushering, staffing information tables, setup and breakdown of merchandise tables, setup and breakdown for events

 

Interns and volunteers will have access to view screening programs of the festival dependent on how many hours they volunteer/work.
